In the dynamic landscape of education, we, a collective of visionary headteachers, have emerged, driven by our shared commitment to enhance the educational journey of both students and staff alike. United in purpose, we have formed a collaborative alliance, pooling our expertise and experiences to cultivate an environment where every child can thrive and every educator can excel.
At the heart of our alliance lies a fervent belief in the power of collaboration. Recognising that no single individual possesses all the answers, we have embraced the ethos of shared learning, fostering an ecosystem where strategies, ideas, and innovations flow freely. Through regular meetings, workshops, and forums, we aim to engage in vibrant discourse, tapping into the collective wisdom of our group to address challenges and seize opportunities.
Moreover, our alliance extends beyond mere dialogue; it is a testament to the spirit of generosity and solidarity. We willingly share resources, materials, and best practices, ensuring that every member of our alliance can access the tools needed to deliver exceptional educational experiences. By leveraging our collective purchasing power, we aim to secure the best value for everyone, optimising resources and maximising impact.
In essence, we, this group of headteachers, embody the transformative potential of collaboration in education, demonstrating that by working together, we can create brighter futures for both our children and our educators.
We aim to support each other and colleagues within our school by focusing on 10 strands of school life. Colleagues who lead on these strands work collectively together to share ideas, resources and approaches to improve outcomes for students, offer support and reduce workloads for staff.
The 10 Strands:
Leadership
Curriculum/Subject Networks
Pedagogy
SEND
Student Leadership
Attendance
Equalities
Safeguarding
Business & Finance
Our City Our World
We believe a collective voice with a strong moral purpose of inclusivity and belonging for all should be a clear strand in all that we do as individual schools and together. Our principles for working can be seen below.
SEND
As schools within the TTSA network, we recognise the increasing challenges facing schools, particularly concerning Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) and reduced funding. However, we are united in our commitment to providing inclusive education across all our schools. Our shared vision revolves around fostering environments where every child feels a sense of belonging and is empowered to achieve their full potential in every aspect of school life with the resources available.
In recent years, the prevalence of SEND within our schools has grown, presenting us with both opportunities and challenges. We acknowledge the importance of collective action in addressing these challenges, and our network serves as a platform for sharing strategies, resources, and best practices. Through collaboration, we aim to ensure that every child, regardless of their individual needs, receives the support and encouragement necessary to thrive.
Central to our ethos is the belief that every child deserves access to a high-quality education and the opportunity to develop a strong sense of confidence in their abilities. We are dedicated to creating learning environments where diversity is celebrated, and differences are embraced. By fostering a culture of inclusivity, we aim to empower our students to excel academically, socially, and emotionally.
Equally important is our commitment to supporting the professional development of our staff. We recognise that providing effective support for children with SEND requires ongoing training and upskilling. Therefore, we prioritise investing in our staff, ensuring they have the knowledge, skills, and resources needed to effectively support the diverse needs of our students.
Through our collective efforts, we strive to create schools where every child feels valued, supported, and able to succeed. Together, we are committed to building a brighter future for all our students, one where every individual has the opportunity to thrive and reach their full potential.
Equalities
We are committed to cultivating a vibrant, diverse, and inclusive community where every individual, regardless of background or identity, can thrive and reach their full potential. We recognise the importance of creating an environment where students and staff from all walks of life feel empowered to flourish both personally and academically, preparing them to make positive contributions to society in various social, educational, and professional spheres. To achieve this vision, we are dedicated to continually refining and strengthening our approaches to embedding equality, diversity, and inclusivity into every aspect of school life.
We prioritise our efforts based on rigorous analysis of evidence, focusing on areas of greatest need, and we ground our practices in recognised models of best practice. By embracing the principles of the Equality Act 2010, we aim to foster positive relationships across all characteristics, promote equality of opportunity, and eliminate discrimination in all its forms.
Through unwavering commitment to these values, we aspire to not only meet our obligations but also to set a standard of excellence in creating a school culture where diversity is celebrated, inclusion is championed, and every individual is valued and supported.
Our work is developed and measured through the following 5 pillars:
Leadership & Culture
Curriculum
Student Leadership & Voice
Staff CPD
School Community
Student Leadership
The Student Leadership Pathway has been developed to nurture the core values at all alliance schools; teamwork, resilience, commitment and initiative to prepare students to become effective leaders in various contexts. Our goal is to create a supportive environment where students thrive academically, socially, and personally, shaping them into capable and empowered individuals ready to positively impact their communities.
The alliance is committed to supporting the various opportunities within leadership with a focus on Self-Leadership at EYFS, Key Stage 1 and 2, moving to Leadership of Others into Key Stage 3 and onto Student Leadership and Senior Leaders in Key Stage 4. This pathway will instil a sense of responsibility and confidence from an early age. The pathway seeks to cultivate essential leadership skills progressively, fostering growth and adaptability. By engaging students in leadership roles throughout their school journey, it builds a cohesive community and encourages long-term commitment to school activities.
As part of the wider outreach, workshops will be delivered across all schools, with the majority being student-led and focused on current issues that schools are facing. The alliance is committed to leadership in all its forms, with an emphasis on raising awareness of key issues that are impacting our local communities and where students have an opportunity to share their opinions in a safe and productive way.
The Student Leadership Pathway will develop a strong sense of belonging and community between the TTSA Network and build relationships across our diverse city.
Attendance
We pride ourselves on our commitment to strong pastoral care and know that students achieve well in all areas of the school when they feel supported, cared for and have professionals they can talk to when they need extra help. We know we are most successful in working with students who attend school regularly and can demonstrate that, “it takes a village to raise a child”. The partnerships we create with families to support student attendance are crucial. We aim to do this in a transparent and compassionate way. We expect children to attend school. We will take a graduated approach to supporting children and families.
Safeguarding
Safeguarding is central to everything and every decision. We encourage open communication and trust from our families to enable students/children to feel safe and thrive. TTSA seeks to demystify fears. We are committed to support families to access the extensive network of support at the earliest opportunity.
CPD
We want our pupils/students to have the best possible education. We know that world class CPD is pivotal in improving children’s outcomes. Evidence from research shows that the right CPD can close the disadvantage gap, as well as improving outcomes for all children. We offer a bespoke, responsive programme that provides the CPD that we need to have the greatest impact for our community. We recognise that within our community we have experts in a wide range of aspects of school life and that they can deliver CPD which is relevant to our context and pupils. We know that through collaboration and networking, we are able to provide staff with rich opportunities that would otherwise be unattainable and therefore widens knowledge and skills for the advantage of our students/pupils.
